BlueLayer has announced a new collaboration with MSCI aimed at improving how carbon credit projects are identified, assessed and financed, as market participants seek more reliable data to guide investment decisions.
The partnership will integrate BlueLayer’s operating system for project developers with MSCI Carbon Markets’ Indicative Quotes platform, a subscriber-only tool that allows buyers to identify projects aligned with their procurement needs and connect directly with suppliers.
The move comes as carbon markets grow in scale and complexity, increasing demand from institutional buyers for standardized data, pricing benchmarks and clearer market signals.
MSCI provides analytics covering carbon projects, transactions, pricing and forecasts, serving a global client base that includes banks, investors, airlines and corporations.
By incorporating supply-side data from BlueLayer, MSCI’s platform will offer users broader visibility into available projects alongside pricing information, enabling more informed purchasing decisions.
Buyers will also be able to initiate direct contact with project developers through the platform, supporting deal origination without intermediaries.
For developers, the integration is designed to streamline operations by allowing them to manage shared data through a single system. Information is standardized and delivered via an API, while inquiries from potential buyers can be tracked alongside other sales channels.

The structure preserves flexibility for developers, as MSCI does not act as a broker or take commissions, allowing direct relationships between buyers and suppliers.
Access to MSCI’s institutional client base may also facilitate longer-term offtake agreements and early-stage financing opportunities, according to the companies.
The collaboration aims to strengthen the underlying data infrastructure of the carbon market, improving transparency and efficiency while helping align supply with demand.
BlueLayer said its platform is currently used by more than 500 projects worldwide, managing over $10 billion in carbon credit inventory, as developers seek scalable tools to bring credits to market.
