In a move aimed at untangling one of the carbon market’s biggest bottlenecks, BlueLayer has joined forces with Berlin-based Senken to connect project developers directly with climate-conscious buyers through a live digital integration. The partnership promises to make buying and selling carbon credits as seamless as booking a flight online.
The deal marries BlueLayer’s infrastructure, used by over 500 projects globally representing over $10 billion in carbon inventory, with Senken’s procurement platform, which serves corporate giants like Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom. The result, executives say, is a transparent, data-driven marketplace where developers can list and manage their credits, answer requests, and transact all in one place.
“The demand for this came from developers who needed a central hub to manage everything and reach the right buyers,” said Alexander Argyros, CEO of BlueLayer. “This is a win-win-win for developers, buyers, and the two platforms.”
Through BlueLayer’s Listings API, Senken now gains real-time access to project inventory, certification status, and pricing—cutting through the opacity that has long plagued the voluntary carbon market. Developers maintain control of their data but gain visibility to a broader network of institutional and corporate buyers.
The collaboration has already seen tangible results. A recent pilot enabled a leading German appliance manufacturer to acquire more than 10,000 credits from BlueLayer clients Permian Global and Quadriz.
By combining live data and standardized contracts, the integration promises faster transactions and fewer administrative hurdles for buyers seeking verified, high-quality credits. “We can now clearly demonstrate that we are the only platform that can support developers in all these ways,” Argyros added.
For a sector often criticized for complexity and greenwashing risks, the BlueLayer-Senken alliance could mark a step toward the open, efficient carbon market that investors and corporations have been waiting for.
