Xpansiv, a platform for spot exchange of environmental commodities, announced the launch of new features that enable the trading of carbon removals along with a sophisticated portfolio management system.
With the new offering, Xpansiv users will now be able to trade and manage carbon removal credits in a discreet market segment on the CBL Spot Exchange, labeled as the world’s largest spot exchange for CO2 credits.
To ease the management of activity, the platform also introduced the refined Xpansiv Connect™ Portfolio Management System, which allows clients to access all, multi-registry, transfers in just one screen.
Xpansiv prides itself on being the market infrastructure provider for scaling the global energy transition.
The trading platform sources both natural and tech-powered tagged carbon removal credits from various registries, including the ACR, Climate Action Reserve, and Verra.
Currently, the platform is adding tagged removal credits from Puro.earth, while working on collaborating with more registries in the future.
Russell Karas, Senior Vice President, at Xpansiv, conveyed the company’s satisfaction with being able to streamline a complicated tracking process within its infrastructure, commenting that these updates come in response to the customer demand for carbon removals as a separate market segment.
He shared, “The registry tagging capabilities we are using for removals is of growing importance to enable participants to identify and track credit eligibilities corresponding to a proliferating range of voluntary and compliance programs and meta-standards, including the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles, CORSIA, and Article 6.”
One of the newest platform additions is nature-based carbon removal project developer Anew Climate, who has posted 75,000 removal credits for trading.
The Anew Climate removal credits come from three separate projects across the United States.
Two of them, the Bayfield County Forest Carbon Project and the Iron County Forestry Project are focused on carbon removal in Wisconsin, while the third one, Kanawha River Forestry Project, is focused on managing and restoring forestland in West Virginia.
