Prometheus Hyperscale, Spiritus, and Casper Carbon Capture have joined forces in a strategic partnership that will deliver a pioneering carbon-negative digital infrastructure campus in Wyoming, aiming to answer AI power needs.

Referred to as Project Casper, the initiative is among the landmark digital infrastructure sites in Wyoming, projected to become one of the largest AI-focused campuses in the Rocky Mountain region.

The novelty of it comes from the symbiotic partnership between Prometheus, Spiritus, and Casper Carbon Capture that combines a range of industry-specific expertise to create a center that can answer the rising power demand of AI data centers while also incorporating carbon removal.

As shared in its announcement, the Casper project is expected to generate up to 1.5 GW of power for digital AI operations in multiple phases, with the first batch of power supply slated for 2026.

The developers will funnel at least $500 million into the initial project investment, creating hundreds of construction jobs during the building period and dozens of technical employment opportunities after completion.

Under this collaboration, Prometheus Hyperscale will finance and design high-density compute halls equipped with the company’s proprietary aquifer, non-consumptive systems for water cooling that will help maximize the site’s energy efficiency.

The company will leverage the experience gained from its projects in Wyoming and Texas to support the ambitious Project Casper operations.

Spiritus, on the other hand, will utilize its new Orchard Power platform to provide 1.5 GW of power from natural gas for the digital infrastructure campus, along with on-site decarbonization installations that will include an integrated point-source technology and a direct air capture (DAC) system.

The CO2 captured at Project Casper will then be permanently stored, using Casper Carbon Capture’s access to permitted carbon sequestration wells in the counties of Natrona and Converse.

Additionally, Casper Carbon Capture, a wholly owned subsidiary of Live Oak Environmental, LLC, will provide the land and rights-of-way for the project.

In a broader perspective, the Casper campus will help the state of Wyoming fortify its leadership in AI power and infrastructure, as well as carbon removal technologies, securing its spot among the national frontrunners in these spheres.
