Chart Industries, a global manufacturer of cryogenic equipment and tech for the gas and clean energy sectors, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wolf Carbon Solutions, an affiliate of Calgary-based Wolf Midstream to jointly work on CCUS projects.

The MoU plans for collaboration on identifying, developing and implementing projects via Chart Industries’ Sustainable Energy Solutions (SES) Cryogenic Carbon Capture (CCC) technology at host sites along the recently introduced Mt. Simon Hub CO2 pipeline system. CO2 will be captured via Chart CCC™ technology and transported, stored and permanently sequestered in the Mt. Simon Hub, which spans from Iowa to Illinois.

The collaboration also plans for further extending the project toward Chicago, Indiana and the Ohio River Valley, where industries such as cement, steel, and petrochemicals want to capture, transport and sequester carbon emissions. These industry emitters are the perfect candidates for the implementation of SES and CCC technology.

“The partnership between Wolf Carbon Solutions and Chart is a meaningful step forward for improving the carbon footprint of the Midwest United States,” said Jill Evanko, CEO and President of Chart Industries. “The carbon capture and storage projects being jointly developed will help facility owners and operators reach their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, in particularly hard to abate industries.”
