Watershed, KPMG Partner To Empower Shared Customers To Take Climate Action

Watershed And KPMG Partner To Empower Shared Customers To Take Climate Action - Carbon Herald

Enterprise decarbonization platform Watershed is partnering with global audit, tax, and advisory services provider KPMG to offer a suite of capabilities to empower shared customers to pursue real climate action, Watershed announced on Tuesday.

Under the partnership, Watershed will offer its purpose-built software platform for carbon data, while KPMG will lead the advisory services with clients so that they can draw meaningful insights to inform their decisions and make plans for change.

A recent KPMG report shows that a total 70% of CEOs consider that addressing decarbonization is key to the growth and financial health of their companies, but only fewer than 10% of enterprises measure emissions comprehensively.

Therefore, the partnership between Watershed and KPMG is aimed at advancing the global climate agenda by providing companies with a comprehensive tool to measure their emissions and take relevant action to reduce them.

Watershed’s platform includes granular greenhouse gas (GHG) measurements and emissions disclosure based on climate science. It automates and simplifies the process of capturing data and calculating metrics, provides options for reducing emissions, and supports auditability, according to Watershed.

In addition, KPMG offers tailored sustainability advisory, as well as its expertise in broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data, process, control, and reporting.

“We’re thrilled to work with KPMG to offer our shared customers a climate program and ecosystem of ESG services to provide granular measurement, tangible emissions reduction, and audit-ready climate disclosure,” Kristin Thayer, Head of Partnerships at Watershed, said in a comment.

“Together with Watershed, we’ll help companies action their climate programs while building trust with stakeholders and driving value,” KPMG Advisory Partner Mark Golovcsenko, who is also ESG and Climate Strategy Leader, added.

Currently, Watershed’s platform is used for climate disclosure by frameworks like CDP and TCFD, the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR), and the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).
