Vycarb, a company specializing in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and storage, has unveiled a groundbreaking pilot project in New York City’s East River.
The initiative, supported by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation’s Yard Labs program, aims to showcase Vycarb‘s innovative technology for capturing, removing, and storing carbon dioxide.
The pilot project, located on the waterfront of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, will utilize water and minerals to permanently remove and store 100 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
By demonstrating the system’s scalability and cost-effectiveness, Vycarb hopes to contribute significantly to mitigating climate change.
As global carbon dioxide levels continue to rise, the urgency of addressing climate change becomes increasingly apparent. While reducing carbon emissions is essential, it must be coupled with effective carbon removal strategies.
Vycarb’s approach is distinguished by two key innovations: a unique CO2 neutralization process and a pioneering carbon sensing technology. These advancements enable the company to accurately measure and store carbon dioxide on a large scale.
The New York City East River pilot marks a significant milestone for Vycarb, representing the company’s largest deployment to date. Through this project, Vycarb is proving that its innovative solution can make carbon removal and storage a practical and affordable reality.
