Verra has launched a rebuilt carbon credit registry powered by S&P Global Energy, completing what the world’s largest carbon crediting organization describes as the most significant user experience upgrade in its history and migrating more than a decade of market infrastructure onto a new platform in the process.
The new registry, which went live Monday, consolidates more than 5,900 projects, 10,500 account holders, 1.4 billion credits, and 125,000 documents onto a single S&P Global Energy-powered platform.
The partnership between the two organizations was announced last year as “a technological and strategic transformation for Verra.”
One Platform, End-To-End
A central feature of the new system is its integration with Verra’s Project Hub, enabling users to track a project’s full lifecycle within a single interface—from pipeline listing through validation, credit issuance, transfer, and retirement.
Previously, those steps required navigating between separate platforms, a friction point that market participants had long flagged as a barrier to efficient trading and due diligence.
“With today’s launch, we’re continuing to develop the infrastructure the carbon markets will need at scale, not just the infrastructure it needs today,” said Mandy Rambharos, Verra’s chief executive.
She added that the registry was built as a foundation to be expanded over subsequent phases, with upcoming additions including transaction-ready API connectivity and deeper integration with exchanges, brokers, and marketplaces, “so credits can move with the same speed and reliability the rest of this market now expects.”

Future development will also bring enhanced Article 6 functionality and data API services to support international carbon trading under the Paris Agreement.
Verra said there are no changes to core fees or account requirements as a result of the migration, and existing account holders retain their project data and credit history.
