Veri Energy and Severnside Carbon Capture and Shipping Hub (7CO2) have joined forces to investigate potential carbon dioxide (CO2) storage solutions.
The primary goal of this partnership is to facilitate the transportation of CO2 from the Avonmouth Cluster to Veri’s carbon storage project, located at the Sullom Voe Terminal in the Shetland Islands.
Once the CO2 reaches the terminal, it will undergo conditioning and storage processes before being injected into a storage reservoir beneath the North Sea through EnQuest’s pipeline network.
Veri CEO Gavin Templeton expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with 7CO2: “We look forward to working with 7CO2 to provide an alternative competitive merchant Non-Pipeline Transportation (‘NPT’) solution to 7CO2’s existing plans to be part of a DESNZ Track 2 Carbon Capture cluster.”
Templeton highlighted the potential for this partnership to streamline and reduce overall carbon capture costs, enhance the resilience of 7CO2 and its emitter partners, and deliver a cost-effective carbon capture and storage (CCS) solution.
In May 2023, Veri successfully secured four carbon storage licenses from the North Sea Transition Authority during the regulator’s inaugural offshore carbon storage licensing round in the UK.
