Verde Resources and Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), expanding their existing partnership to collaborate on delivering sustainable asphalt to the market.

Specifically, the two companies are now teaming up to put together an exclusive agreement for the U.S. market while also launching a rapid validation process of Verde’s innovative low-CO2 asphalt technology at Ergon’s cutting-edge asphalt and materials testing facility called Paragon.

This shared effort builds on a partnership established between Verde and Ergon in the beginning of June 2025.

At that time, the two companies made an announcement reflecting on the strides made through a collaborative project aimed at producing a specialized emulsion that was used in a cold mix biochar-asphalt surface material deployed at a test track at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT).

The successful biochar-asphalt surface material demonstration was powered by Verde’s proprietary emulsifying agent, which enables a low-temperature emulsion production process with 20% fewer emissions than regular binders.

This innovation also enables the integration of CO2-capturing biochar into the emulsion, resulting in a revolutionary biochar-asphalt surface material, which helped Verde generate the first-ever carbon removal credits from asphalt production and installation in April 2025.

Building on this momentum, the two companies are now gearing up to deliver further advancements for the decarbonization of the construction industry.

Conveying excitement over the expanded collaboration, Larry Tomkins, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions, commented,

“We want to be on the leading edge of sustainable road materials, and the technologies Verde is bringing to the table make that possible.”

“This next phase is about accelerating adoption and delivering meaningful change in how roads are built—without sacrificing quality or reliability.”

On behalf of Verde Resources, Chief Operating Officer Eric Bava stated, “This partnership is about more than innovation. It’s about equipping Ergon, along with its partners, contractors, customers, and broader ecosystem, with practical tools to reduce Scope emissions and further solidify their leadership in sustainable infrastructure.”
