Varaha has announced the launch of its Varaha Industrial Partners Program (VIPP)—a new global initiative through which biomass processing plants can access sustainable feedstock for their operations and generate high-integrity carbon credits with the company’s digital MRV and commercialization services.
To put this program into motion, Varaha is embarking on the first VIPP collaboration with Revata Carbon and Valency International, which will focus on delivering an industrial biochar carbon removal project in Côte d’Ivoire.
As part of this collaboration, Varaha will take the lead on the measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) aspect of operations, and it will assist with the management and commercialization of carbon credits, structuring and executing sales to corporate and institutional buyers.
The biochar project in Côte d’Ivoire is envisioned to tackle biomass residues from the country’s booming cashew industry, which has created an issue of excess cashew byproducts that present an environmental challenge and need to be addressed with a sustainable solution.
To that end, the partnership in this region will develop a facility that will use cashew residue material as feedstock for producing high-quality, CO2-dense biochar through a process of controlled gasification.
The resulting biochar product will be applied to end uses in agriculture, where it will serve to improve the quality of soils while also contributing to meaningful carbon sequestration.
This partnership is expected to generate carbon removal credits, which will be issued in partnership with Puro.earth, keeping in line with its rigorous methodology for CO2 removal achieved via biochar.

Under the partnership, Revata Carbon will handle the in-country origination and development, working on the feedstock ecosystem, coordinating local stakeholders, and operating the controlled gasification activities.
Global agribusiness and major cashew processor Valency International, on the other hand, will supply the biomass feedstock and provide its supply chain expertise to scale the project going forward.
