Value Maritime has successfully completed the installation of its Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS) and Carbon Capture unit aboard the Nexus Victoria, a 75,000 DWT LR1 product tanker owned by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL).

The cutting-edge 15MW Filtree system from Value Maritime is designed to filter sulphur and ultra-fine particulate matter, while also capturing up to 10% of the vessel’s CO2 emissions.

This system has the potential to increase CO2 capture to 30% if necessary.

Its plug-and-play design allows for onboard CO2 capture and storage, with the option to offload the collected CO2 for use in applications like greenhouse agriculture, methanol production, and even the food industry.

With the installation of this advanced system, the Nexus Victoria becomes the largest vessel to feature VM’s SOx scrubber combined with carbon capture technology. It is also the first LR1 tanker to utilize this innovative system.
