Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has chosen MTR Carbon Capture to provide a Polaris™ membrane carbon capture system for its Taichung Zero-Waste Solvent Incineration Facility in Taiwan. The installation of this cutting-edge system is slated for completion by the end of 2025.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone for MTR Carbon Capture, demonstrating the effectiveness of its clean membrane technology in reducing carbon emissions for a global industry leader.
The project will involve a joint effort with CTCI, Taiwan’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction company.
The Polaris membrane technology employed by MTR stands out for its environmental advantages.
Unlike traditional solvent-based capture systems, Polaris produces no chemical emissions and requires minimal water usage.
Furthermore, the system operates without the need for heat or steam input, significantly lowering operating costs.

The modular and compact design of the Polaris membrane capture systems offers flexibility for installations with limited space, while also contributing to reduced capital expenditures.
MTR Carbon Capture President, Brett Andrews, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This an important first step in deploying clean Polaris capture systems in Taiwan to help a global leader like TSMC decarbonize their operations. We look forward to working with TSMC and CTCI to make this project a great success.”
This initial project serves as a crucial step towards the deployment of larger Polaris systems at additional TSMC facilities and waste-to-energy plants throughout the region.
