This week, the Puro Registry announced that it has officially certified the 100th carbon removal facility, marking an important milestone for the durable CO2 removal industry.
This progress was made possible through the efforts of engineers, operators, project developers, scientists, auditors, and partners, who have taken bold steps to turn climate action into measurable impact.
As shared by Puro.earth, Berlin-based biomass storage provider Carbonsate was the company registered as the 100th certified facility.
The Puro Registry for durable carbon removal credits displays data on CO2 Removal Certificates, or CORCs, that have been retired, along with the projects that issued them.
Each CORC stands for the net carbon removal volume of one (1) metric ton of long-term CO2 removal, and these certificates get retired when a beneficiary makes a net-zero claim supported by CORC properties.
The 100th certification on the Puro Registry testifies to a driven global ecosystem that is working hard on scaling durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR) at a commercial scale.
Additionally, this achievement demonstrates a strong commitment on behalf of suppliers, project developers, and verification bodies, who contributed towards each issuance.
By choosing to partner with Puro.earth, CDR suppliers are signaling their recognition of the registry’s high-integrity and high-quality standards, and in a broader sense, this goal points to a maturing, durable CO2 removal market, where buyers choose Puro-certified CORCs as part of their sustainability plans.

With these first 100 certifications, the Puro Registry has followed a rigorous scientific foundation, enabling digitalization in cases where it improves consistency.
Going forward, the Registry will focus on strengthening the methodologies, verification processes, and the registry infrastructure that would support a growing and diverse portfolio of durable CDR pathways.
In a publication, Puro.earth shared,
“Reaching 100 certified facilities marks how far we’ve come as a certification platform. As we’ve scaled, we’ve focused on building efficiency in the right places—while ensuring scientific rigor and human review remain central to maintaining integrity.”
