The European Commission has launched the official website of its Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) Buyers’ Club, which aims to aggregate demand for units certified under the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Regulation.

Announced in November 2025, the Club is part of the EU Commission’s Bioeconomy Strategy, and it brings together buyers and suppliers of certified CRCF units. As shared by its creators, this effort intends to catalyze “predictable demand for results-based schemes and stimulate private investment.”

The newly launched website offers more details on how interested organizations can get involved with the CRCF Buyers’ Club and engage in buying and selling CRCF units.

Structured as a voluntary market platform, the Club is expected to play a key role in driving public and private capital for permanent removals and carbon farming units.

The platform is being launched with the goal of accelerating the transition from pilot projects to large-scale deployments.

The EU Commission released the initial details on the CRCF Buyers’ Club in May 2026. The initiative will operate in two separate tracks—one for permanent carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and one for carbon farming.

To date, the CRCF framework has approved three methodologies for permanent carbon removals, including direct air capture with carbon storage (DACCS), biogenic emissions capture with carbon storage (BioCCS), and biochar carbon removal (BCR).

For permanent removals, the Buyers’ Club will aim to deliver long-term offtakes for a few large projects and bring them to Final Investment Decision (FID), leveraging EU funding and prioritizing the Innovation Fund and dedicated Member States funding.

On CRCF certification methodologies for carbon farming, the Commission has shared that these are expected to enter into force in the third quarter of 2026.

Additionally, the Commission has highlighted that in 2026, the Buyers’ Club will operate with a hybrid public-private partnership model, and all final project decisions and diligence for this year will be made by the buyers themselves.

Organizations interested in purchasing CRCF units are encouraged to join the club as soon as possible by filling out the form available at this link.
