The Canada-based Inlandsis Fund has made a carbon removal prepurchase deal with Pantheon Regeneration for a volume of 100,000 credits to be delivered via peatland restoration.

Leveraging this support, Patheon Regeneration will focus efforts on developing and constructing its first nature-based carbon removal project.

The Inlandsis Fund, managed by Fondaction Asset Management (FAM), has played a vital role in supporting Pantheon’s first project, Pocosin Ecological Reserve I, the first commercial peatland restoration project in the United States.

For Pantheon Regeneration, this financial backing adds to a growing base of institutional and mission-aligned capital, secured from investors such as AXA IM Alts, Rodale Institute, the Grantham Foundation, Trailhead Capital, McDonald Pelz, and Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund.

As a nature-based solutions company, Pantheon specializes in high-integrity carbon projects focused on restoring degraded landscapes.

Peatlands are among the most potent carbon sinks on the planet, storing more CO2 per hectare than forests and grasslands combined.

If left to degrade, these ecosystems turn into meaningful sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and when they get restored back to life, they function as long-term CO2 sinks that improve the local biodiversity and water conditions, lowering the risk from fires.

In collaboration with the Duke Wetland and Coasts Center, Pantheon and its Chief Science Officer, Dr. Curtis Richardson, are working on quantifying the carbon removal and ecological benefits delivered through peatland restoration, demonstrating this pathway’s potential for delivering durable climate results.

The support from the Inlandsis Fund validates a first-of-its-kind project that is designed to deliver high-quality carbon credits at scale.

David Moffat, Managing Director of the Inlandsis Fund, commented,

“From our first meeting, it was clear that Inlandsis and Pantheon hold a shared vision: translating complex natural systems into investable, high-integrity climate infrastructure. Supporting Pantheon in making that vision a reality has been inspiring.”

Pantheon Regeneration CEO Tripp Wall added, “Partnering with Inlandsis has been critical to our mission to deliver the highest quality NBS projects to the market. We are grateful for David and the team for their vision and leadership.”
