Cascade Climate has announced that Data Quarry—its data-sharing platform for enhanced rock weathering (ERW)—is now officially live.

This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the ERW field that will enable the sharing, accumulating, and updating of vital sector knowledge, paving the way for the advancement of this decarbonization technology.

Shared publicly as an idea back in October 2024, the Data Quarry platform is now a fact, offering ERW stakeholders a permissioned space to learn from real-world data and contribute insights that enrich the knowledge vault on the field of enhanced rock weathering.

To be able to use the full decarbonization potential of ERW, stakeholders still need to gain a better understanding of the key dynamics that are causing uncertainties and cost-related questions in this sector.

The Data Quarry platform aims to support just that—safe and secure data sharing among ERW actors, facilitated in compliance with data privacy laws and norms, and common infrastructure and schemas.

As part of this effort, Cascade Climate has partnered with leading ERW companies that have proactively committed to sharing commercial datasets from their operations as a part of this system.

The 10 flagship companies that collaborated on Data Quarry include industry big names like Alt Carbon, Andes, Carbonaught, Eion, Flux, InPlanet, Mati, Terradot, V6 Ag, and ZeroEx.

Besides these companies, Data Quarry also welcomed the following new data contributors: Basic Dust, Silica, Carbon Drawdown Initiative, carbony, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Searrp, Recs, Undo Carbon, and Varaha.

Last week, the Data Quarry system launched with three initial commercial datasets available on the platform. These included contributions from InPlanet, Flux , and the Carbon Drawdown Initiative, who provided datasets from a commercial project, research into the agronomic impacts of ERW, and a study on lysimeters.

Looking ahead, the platform will continue publishing datasets as they become available. Additionally, health and safety data, along with datasets used in peer-reviewed articles, will also be made publicly available on CDRXIV.
