The 2025 AirMiners Buyers Club Is Looking To Back CDR Projects

The 2025 AirMiners Buyers Club Is Looking To Back CDR Projects - Carbon Herald

AirMiners is looking for high-quality carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects that would lock in offtake agreements with corporate purchasers that are part of its 2025 Buyers Club.

The CDR accelerator company is inviting interested startups that are ready to sell carbon credits to apply for this opportunity by August 8, 2025.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in the period between August and September 2025, followed by a contract negotiations & pricing phase in October–December 2025.

AirMiners clarifies that the group of corporate buyers is looking for carbon removal companies that can deliver between 100 and 10,000 tons within a timeframe of 12-18 months, where each member of the Buyers Club would likely make its own individual purchases.

Considering this defined delivery timeframe, the call for proposals is primarily looking for CDR projects centered around biochar, biomass burial, biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS), and bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS).

Additionally, the buyers would also consider rock weathering projects with high-precision monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), as well as ocean-based CDR initiatives with already deployed systems and nature-based pathways like soil carbon or other emerging technologies.

While the announcement highlights that direct air capture (DAC) solutions would probably not match the buyers’ criteria due to the conventionally high price of this approach, it does point out that if suppliers can offer credits within the indicated timeline and at a price of less than $200 per ton, they are still welcome to submit their proposal.

Beyond just a carbon removal impact, the projects should deliver other co-benefits or generate revenue through other channels besides carbon credits.

In terms of eligible regions, the call is looking for proposals from around the world, with a number of regions being considered as priority.

These include Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey in the US, as well as Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, and Vietnam.
