Tallgrass Enters Public Comment Period For Carbon Storage Wells In Wyoming - Carbon Herald

Tallgrass Energy has initiated a public consultation period for a proposed carbon storage project involving five wells in Wyoming.

The public is invited to provide feedback on the project between July 31 and October 1, 2024.

The company aims to store a substantial 125 million metric tons of carbon dioxide underground.

This development follows Tallgrass Energy‘s Trailblazer Pipeline Company LLC securing a crucial permit from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on October 23, 2023.

The permit authorized the conversion of an existing 400-mile natural gas pipeline into a dedicated carbon dioxide transportation network.

Originally built in the 1980s to transport natural gas from Wyoming through Colorado to Nebraska, the pipeline will now serve as a conduit for carbon dioxide captured from emission sources in Nebraska and Colorado.

The carbon dioxide will then be permanently stored in underground geological formations within Wyoming as part of the Trailblazer Conversion Project.
