Taiwan-based YOUWAN, an XPRIZE TOP 100 carbon removal company, has developed a novel, three-pronged approach to addressing the excess CO2 emissions on our planet.
Founded by Slone Wang, YOUWAN is on a mission to leverage technological innovation to contribute to global efforts towards a carbon-neutral future.
The company has created a technology dubbed the YOUWAN Method for CO2 Removal, a system that absorbs, concentrates, and transforms CO2 into reusable materials, facilitating processes of carbon capture, carbon product creation, and carbon sequestration.
Derived from the company’s experience in metal concentration technology, this method enables a selective adsorption of CO2 from the air that then gets concentrated and transformed into a carbon product.
The revolutionary technology introduced by YOUWAN has the capacity to capture gas streams or air that contains CO2 with an efficiency rate of 100%, a figure certified by SGS Taiwan and accompanied by a sustainability analysis performed by the XPRIZE Carbon Removal Competition.
The patented method also allows for reductions in energy consumption during carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) while employing practices that correspond to the requirements of recyclers, users, and the circular economy.
According to a cost analysis done by the XPRIZE Carbon Removal Competition, the YOUWAN Method for CO2 removal is one of the few profitable carbon reduction paths currently available on the global market.

Beyond carbon removal, YOUWAN is also garnering attention for its water resource recovery efforts, where it reached a colossal milestone by achieving an industry-leading 50,000% water utilization efficiency, offering a pioneering solution to traditional approaches.
To prove the effectiveness of its innovations, YOUWAN launched its solutions into commercial operation, where they ran for over 40,000 hours in industrial environments.
During this time, the solutions successfully demonstrated their real-world application, managing to reduce CO2 emissions and to optimize the efficiency of resource reutilization.
