Spiritus, an innovative player in climate technology, has revealed a $30 million Series A funding round, led by Aramco Ventures with support from Khosla Ventures, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, and TDK Ventures.
This significant investment will propel Spiritus’ mission to eradicate carbon emissions from both the energy and construction sectors, enabling America’s growth without compromising environmental integrity.
The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) is undeniable, but it comes with an enormous energy demand, as data centers are expected to become one of the largest electricity consumers, dramatically increasing power consumption.
At the same time, the construction industry — which supports infrastructure development — remains one of the highest contributors to carbon emissions. The challenge is clear: how to support the expansion of energy and AI technologies in America, while simultaneously addressing the industry’s carbon footprint.
Spiritus offers a solution to this dilemma. By deploying scalable and cost-effective direct air capture (DAC) technology, the company enables the US to enhance its energy leadership while reducing carbon emissions at scale.
“We’re seeing soaring demand for data centers and heavy industries, yet we can’t ignore the carbon that comes with it,” said Charles Cadieu, CEO and co-founder of Spiritus. “Our DAC technology brings large-scale decarbonization within reach. This funding advances our vision of supporting America’s explosive growth while keeping emissions in check.”

Spiritus is setting the stage for the future. With the new investment, the company is fast-tracking the development of three major facilities, showcasing the potential for large-scale carbon removal.
Spiritus is challenging the norm of high DAC costs, aiming to reduce them by 90% and bringing them down to $100 per ton — a move that will make large-scale CDR a practical solution for meaningful climate action.
“Direct Air Capture has the potential to play an important role in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors of the economy, but until now, it has been too expensive to be meaningful,” said Bruce Niven, Executive Managing Director of Strategic Venturing at Aramco Ventures.
“Breakthrough approaches like Spiritus are needed. We are excited to partner with Spiritus and bring this important technology to market.”
