SoScience And Lesaffre To Fund CCU Solutions For Food Industry - Carbon Herald

SoScience, Europe’s first enterprise specialized in Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), together with Lesaffre Group, the world’s largest yeast producer, have announced a funding opportunity for new solutions in the realm of carbon capture and utilization (CCU) for the food industry. 

The program by SoScience is designed to support the creation, development and implementation of competitive sustainable solutions using CCU ‘to produce fermentation feedstock or food products while ensuring their societal and environmental benefits.’

Applications opened on May 16 and will remain open until May 27, 2024, after which a select few applicants will be approved for funding that will go towards research & personalized coaching.

The program is open to:

  • Public Research Organisations
  • Industrial Companies 
  • Start-up / SME / Social enterprise
  • NGO / Non-profit

  • Support services for entrepreneurs & innovation

The initiative aims to address the impending threat of food scarcity, as according to some research, Earth’s growing population will call for a 56% increase in global food production by 2050. 

At the same time, agriculture is already suffering from the effects of the climate crisis.
