SLB Capturi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JGC Holdings Corporation, Japan’s largest engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, to explore a strategic collaboration in post-combustion carbon capture technologies.
The partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions across the Asia-Pacific and Middle East, two regions poised for rapid industrial decarbonization over the next decade.
The collaboration will combine SLB Capturi’s CO2 capture technology with JGC Group’s engineering expertise and strong local networks to deliver integrated, end-to-end CCS solutions, from early design and feasibility stages through project execution and implementation.
Both companies see the alliance as a way to support their clients’ emissions-reduction goals while strengthening regional CCS ecosystems.
A Partnership Built on Proven Capabilities
JGC brings to the table decades of project delivery experience and a strong track record in CCS, having completed CO2 recovery and storage facilities for natural gas projects in Algeria and Australia.
Under its “Beyond Smart Project 2025 (BSP2025)” strategy, the company has identified CCS as a core growth area, with a particular emphasis on post-combustion CO2 recovery from industrial flue gases.
In addition to engineering and construction, JGC plans to expand its technical consulting services, offering clients comprehensive CCS project support including simulation, risk assessment, and environmental analysis.

This broader approach aims to position JGC not only as a project builder but also as a strategic partner in industrial decarbonization planning.
SLB Capturi has already established itself as a key player in the global CCS landscape. Its technology underpins several high-profile projects in Europe, including Brevik CCS in Norway, the world’s first full-scale carbon capture project for a cement plant, along with the Twence CCU in the Netherlands, Ørsted Kalundborg CO2 Hub in Denmark, and Hafslund Celsio’s Oslo CCS initiative.
Together, SLB Capturi and JGC Group aim to replicate that success across new markets, helping heavy industries in Asia and the Middle East transition toward low-carbon operations through scalable, cost-effective carbon capture solutions.
