Schlumberger is partnering up with RTI International to jointly scale and advance the industrialization of novel carbon capture technology, the company announced yesterday.

Schlumberger said it would be working on enhancing the efficiency of absorption-based carbon capture with the help of its proprietary non-aqueous solvent (NAS) technology.

RTI International is a nonprofit research institute that has signed an exclusive agreement with the Houston-based oilfield services company to help bring that about.

NAS technology can be applied as a means of reducing CO2 emissions across a range of sectors, making it very promising and lending it potential to become a crucial component in the battle against climate change.
