Logistics company Samskip has chosen to fit two of its ships with the Filtree carbon capture solution from Value Maritime.

The two container vessels Samskip Innovator and Samskip Endeavour will be equipped with systems that remove CO2, sulfur and particulate matter from exhaust gasses.

Furthermore, the systems are capable of separating oil residues and ultra-fine particles from wash water in addition to neutralizing the water’s Ph value.

Value Maritime’s Filtree system is designed to capture at least 30% of carbon emissions for ships that run on conventional fuel.

In that case of the two Samskip ships, both vessels run on biofuels between the Netherlands and the UK, which already ensures a 90% emissions reduction.

Hence, with the addition of carbon capture, Samskip will effectively be able to offer its first carbon neutral shortsea services.
