An innovative Greenland-based firm called the Rock Flour Company has successfully raised ~$7.1 million (€6.1 million) to scale its carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solution based on enhanced rock weathering (ERW) via glacial rock dust.
The seed funding round was led by the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO) and Novo Holdings.
Other round supporters include Greenlandic Nalik Ventures, Greenland’s pension fund SISA, and the Carbon Drawdown Initiative, who joined a group of existing investors like 2degrees, The Footprint Fund, and Planetary Impact Ventures, as well as a number of angel investors.
The secured funding will fuel the first commercial deployment of Rock Flour Company’s CDR solution that uses glacial rock flour dispersed on cropland to draw down CO2 emissions from the atmosphere while boosting soil health.
Founded by esteemed geologist Professor Minik Rosing and climate investor 2degrees, and spearheaded by seasoned entrepreneur Mikkel Bülow-Lehnsby, Rock Flour Company intends to leverage the abundant glacial rock resources in Greenland to scale this CDR approach to gigaton levels.
The company’s chief operating officer (COO), Eliot Booth, stated that they are thrilled to have the support of leading institutional investors from Greenland—where Rock Flour Company operates—and Denmark, where it will first deploy.
He shared, “This investment allows us to fast-track Greenland operations and deliver scalable proof-of-concept with global relevance.”
EIFO Investment Manager Rünno Allikivi commented, “We fully support Rock Flour Company’s ambition to a greener world, driving local development, and solving key sustainability issues with global agriculture. Combined with a world-class founder team, we’re super excited to have supported the mission and taken a seat at the table.”

Glacial rock flour is a naturally occurring ultra-fine powder created through the process of glacier erosion.
This material acts as a nutrient-packed soil booster that improves the nitrogen-use efficiency in croplands, lowering the need for artificial fertilizers. Its mineral content and compact, fine-particle dimensions enable a carbon removal process through enhanced weathering.
The glacial rock dust can be easily found in large quantities in Greenland, and the Rock Flour Company plans to use the newly secured financial injection to scale its operations, helping turn croplands around the world into a massive and permanent carbon sink.
