- German deeptech firm Reverion closed a $175 million Series B financing round led by European scale-up fund Kembara to scale manufacturing of its dispatchable solid oxide systems.
- The system operates in dual modes: converting renewable gas into power at 74.2% electrical efficiency while capturing pure biogenic CO2, or running in reverse as an electrolyzer.
- Capital will fund a new German megafactory, boosting annual production capacity tenfold to 250 MW to service a $2 billion commercial pipeline spanning biogas and data center markets.
German energy technology company Reverion has raised $175 million in a Series B funding round led by Kembara, a deeptech scale-up fund managed by Mundi Ventures.
New investors including Allianz, KfW Capital, Aurum Impact, and Carbon Equity participated alongside existing backers. The fresh capital will primarily fund a new manufacturing facility in Germany, increasing production capacity tenfold to 250 megawatts annually to satisfy a commercial project pipeline exceeding $2 billion.
Reverion manufactures containerized solid oxide power plants that convert biogas or renewable natural gas (RNG) electrochemically into electricity without combustion. Operating at a 74.2% electrical efficiency rate in live customer deployments, the technology captures pure, uncombusted biogenic CO2 for commercial utilization or permanent geological storage, rendering power generation carbon-negative.
The reversibility of the solid oxide system enables it to operate in electrolysis mode during periods of excess power generation, producing green hydrogen or synthetic methane to provide grid balancing services.
Targetting AI Data Centers and Firm Renewable Power
The funding round reflects rising commercial interest from hyperscalers and energy-intensive data center operators facing power grid capacity constraints and long interconnection queues.
“Solar and wind give us clean energy, but only when the weather cooperates. What the world needs is clean power on tap,” said Stephan Herrmann, CEO and co-founder of Reverion.
“By closing this Series B, we are laying the foundation for industrial mass production. We are building the dispatchable, carbon-negative engine that allows grids and heavy industry to run 100% clean.”

By tapping existing gas network infrastructure, Reverion allows off-grid industrial users to generate firm, carbon-negative power on-site without waiting for local grid upgrades.
With seven commercial units currently operating in the field and individual plant capacities upgraded to 500 kW, the company is expanding its headcount from 200 to as many as 1,000 employees as it prepares for international deliveries.
