Registration for the $100 million XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition is closing soon, with the deadline for participants being September 7, 2023.
Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solution providers still have a little over a week to sign up for Elon Musk’s competition for a chance to contribute to climate change mitigation.
The challenge has been ongoing for four years now and offers the largest incentive prize in history.
Registration for the XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition is open to all companies and research teams from around the world, capable of demonstrating a working CDR solution with the capacity of removing 1,000 tons of CO2 per year.
All CDR approaches are welcome, whether those be nature-based, mineralization, oceans, technological or other solutions.
The winners should be able to model their costs at a scale of 1 million tons of carbon removal per year and demonstrate how they can reach gigaton scale in the near future.
