Renewable fuels company Raven SR and Chart Industries announced they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on the liquefaction, storage, and transportation of hydrogen as well as pure CO2 produced from Raven SR’s non-combustion Steam/CO2 Reformation process that converts waste to renewable fuel.

Raven SR uses local waste as feedstock to produce transportation-grade H2 and synthetic fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The carbon dioxide, which is a byproduct of the process, when liquefied is used for food and beverage production, fertilizer production, and other consumer needs and as a feedstock for concrete or alternative fuels.

“By partnering with Chart Industries, Raven SR will be able to optimize our facilities’ production of clean fuels, strengthening both project deployment and regional fuel supply,” said Matt Murdock, CEO of Raven SR. “As we expand globally, it is essential for Raven SR to collaborate with a world leader in hydrogen and carbon dioxide storage and transportation in order to increase energy efficiency throughout the supply chain.”

Chart Industries specializes in the engineering design and manufacturing of highly engineered equipment for the clean energy and industrial gas sectors. Its products are used in every phase of the liquid gas supply chain.

The Raven SR technology turns organic waste and landfill gas into hydrogen and Fischer-Tropsch synthetic fuels. Its Steam/CO2 Reformation does not require fresh water as a feedstock, making the process more efficient in comparison to conventional hydrogen production. It can also deliver fuel with low to negative CO2 intensity.
