Radisson Debuts First Verified Net Zero Hotels In Oslo And Manchester - Carbon Herald

Radisson Hotel Group has unveiled its first two Verified Net Zero hotels — one in Manchester and one in Oslo — marking a major step toward sustainable hospitality.

Verified by TÜV Rheinland, both properties meet the 2040 standards set by the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, addressing all emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3.

The Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, formerly Park Inn, completed its transformation in May 2025. Oslo’s counterpart will reopen as Radisson RED Oslo City Centre in July 2025.

Both hotels run entirely on renewable energy and are fully electrified, eliminating the use of fossil fuels. In Manchester, heat pumps supply hot water, and kitchens use induction cooking. In Oslo, the hotel taps into the city’s renewable district heating network.

Supply chain emissions (Scope 3) are being cut through improved procurement, transportation practices, and food services. Remaining emissions are offset through high-quality nature-based carbon removals from Agreena, supporting regenerative agriculture across Europe.

Guests can experience comfort with a conscience through low-waste operations, fully renewable energy use, and climate-smart dining.

“Today, we are demonstrating that Net Zero conversion hotels are possible. In a conversion approach, the Manchester and Oslo hotels prove that non-sustainable hotels can become high performing asset classes with a positive impact on the planet, commented Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman at Radisson Hotel Group.

“These Verified Net Zero hotels bring the future forward and offer guests the pinnacle of sustainable stays.”

Partnering with Klimato, Radisson has redesigned its menus to highlight carbon footprints and reduce emissions by up to 40% — without compromising flavor.

With the launches of these Net Zero Hotels, Radisson sets a new industry benchmark for climate-aligned hospitality, offering guests a true net zero stay.
