German tech firm PyroCCS GmbH has closed its initial external funding round, securing equity investment from Lotus One Investment, Counteract, and private investors to accelerate the global rollout of its industrial biocarbon, biofuels, and carbon removal supply chain.
The capital injection will fund further development of PyroCCS’s proprietary pyrolysis technology, advance key project developments across Africa, Asia, and the Americas, and expand product qualification with industrial off-takers.
PyroCCS utilizes its Gravity Series plants and Sarva Plant Operating System to process low-value biomass into biocarbon, bio-oil, baseload power, and durable carbon removals. The system incorporates integrated digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (dMRV) connected to major carbon registries including Isometric, Puro.earth, and Carbon Standards International.
Multi-Product Revenue Model Unlocks Project Financing
By establishing multiple revenue streams from a single feedstock, the company aims to optimize project economics for biomass owners and secure long-term offtake agreements with industrial buyers in sectors like steel, metallurgy, refining, and aviation.
The business model is already active at PyroCCS’s flagship PyroNam facility in Namibia, which processes invasive bush encroaching on pastureland into marketable carbon products and baseload power.
“By generating multiple products from biomass through our easily deployable systems, we offer some of the hardest-to-abate sectors a clear path to cost parity with the fuels and carbon inputs they use today,” said Timo Herbrand, Chief Executive Officer of PyroCCS. “Biomass owners around the world are waking up to the value their biomass holds, but no one is putting the pieces together. PyroCCS connects the two sides.”

The announcement follows recent market validation for the company, including a carbon removal credit purchase agreement with Tencent after winning a spot in the tech group’s CarbonX 2.0 initiative.
“PyroCCS has among the most credible and deployment-ready pathways to help this happen,” added Andy Bonsall, Co-founder and Partner at Counteract.
“What drew us to PyroCCS is that they treat this opportunity as the industrial commodity challenge it is: building an integrated biomass and biochar company that brings together proprietary technologies, multi-product offtake, and financing structures.”
