Public Consultation For’s Carbon Crediting Program Is Open Till Jan 8th

Puro.Earth Updated Its Geologically Stored Carbon Methodology - Carbon Herald, the leading carbon removal Standard and Registry in the voluntary carbon market, has opened a public consultation on its carbon-crediting program on December 18th. The consultation aims to align the General Rules of carbon-crediting of with the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (IC-VCM) and the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).

The Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) of the IC-VCM were launched in March 2023 and demonstrate a set of ten principles defining high-quality credits with a focus on governance, emissions impact, and sustainable development. The goal is to create a carbon market that achieves real and verifiable climate change impact.

CORSIA is an initiative developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and adopted in October 2016. It is a carbon offset and carbon reduction scheme that helps the aviation industry compensate for the emissions they cannot abate at the moment.

As those initiatives share similar goals with Puro, the company aims for integration to achieve a strong foundation in carbon crediting. According to the company’s announcement, it agrees with the IC-VCM’s theory of change – Build integrity and scale will follow.
