Prometheus Fuels has become the first company to produce fully carbon-neutral e-Fuel using direct air capture (DAC) and off-grid renewable energy — without subsidies, hydrogen, or grid connection.

The company announced its Titan Forge Alpha prototype, equipped with a 50-cell Faraday Reactor, has reached Technology Readiness Level 9, validating its technology for full-scale deployment.

The facility — the world’s first operational DAC synthetic fuel plant — is already producing e-methanol from captured CO2 and solar power.

Prometheus’ next step is Titan Forge One, its first commercial-scale plant, which will replicate the proven architecture and deliver on more than 11 million tons of pre-sold e-Fuel over the next decade.

The system’s ability to operate on variable renewable power enables production in remote, solar-rich regions, bypassing the need for transmission infrastructure.

Founder and CEO Rob McGinnis said the milestone “marks a turning point, not just for Prometheus, but for the future of energy.”

“We’ve invented and built an integrated DAC and fuel synthesis system that captures carbon from the air, runs on renewable energy, and produces e-Fuels that cost less than fossil at scale. It’s the kind of innovation that doesn’t just move the needle, it resets the standard,” McGinnis said.

By turning abundant, low-cost solar into liquid fuels that can be stored indefinitely and transported globally, Prometheus aims to unlock a scalable path to carbon-neutral energy at a fraction of the cost of fossil alternatives.
