PRI Makes Carbon Capture Breakthrough At Dallman 4 Plant - Carbon Herald

The Prairie Research Institute (PRI), a champion for sustainable solutions, has achieved a major feat with the upcoming launch of a large-scale carbon capture project.

This pioneering initiative, centered on the Dallman 4 coal plant in Springfield, Illinois, positions the state at the forefront of the battle against climate change.

PRI‘s core mission is to develop sustainable technologies, and carbon capture is a vital piece of that puzzle.

They’ve embraced a collaborative approach, working hand-in-hand with key partners like the U.S. Department of Energy, Linde, BASF, and various state organizations. This teamwork has been essential in propelling Illinois to the leading edge of carbon capture research.

The Dallman 4 Project: A Pioneering Endeavor

The Dallman 4 power plant serves as a critical test bed for cutting-edge technology that captures CO2 emissions after they are produced, preventing them from polluting the atmosphere. This pilot project represents a significant breakthrough as it’s the largest of its kind in the world.

The Phase III pilot testing at Dallman 4 is a substantial undertaking. The $80 million project, funded by a coalition including the Department of Energy, Linde/BASF, and Illinois, highlights the immense potential of carbon capture technology.
