Pina Earth and Tree.ly have merged their operations to create Europe’s first full-stack forest carbon platform, combining their expertise in software, project development, and sales, according to an official announcement on Monday.
The new company spans operations across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Italy, making it the largest tech-enabled forest carbon developer in the region.
Together, they now manage over 80,000 hectares of forest and have issued more than 500,000 tonnes of certified carbon credits, with a growing network of around 100 corporate buyers.
This scale positions the combined entity as a market leader in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), with fivefold annual revenue growth.
The platform connects landowners with long-term carbon credit buyers, simplifying certification and increasing access to climate finance.
For buyers, it offers access to high-integrity, regionally sourced credits with strong biodiversity co-benefits and transparency.

“This is a defining moment for European forest carbon markets,” said Nadja Bresous Mehigan, partner at venture capital firm XAnge and lead investor in Pina Earth.
The merger reflects a broader trend of consolidation in Europe’s carbon sector and comes as regulatory frameworks like the EU’s Carbon Removal Certification Framework gain momentum.
Pina Earth’s proprietary forest simulation software will be integrated into Tree.ly’s platform, improving efficiency and enabling support for diverse methodologies, including IFM, ARR, Conservation, and forest adaptation.
Leadership will remain strong: Tree.ly’s Jodok Batlogg and Christian Lutz will lead the company, while Pina Earth co-founders Dr. Gesa Biermann and Florian Fincke will take on strategic advisory roles.
“We founded Pina Earth to ensure Europe has healthy forests for generations to come,” said Biermann, expressing her excitement over the integration with Tree.ly.
With offices in Munich, Berlin, and Dornbirn, the merged company is preparing for a Series A funding round and continued expansion, setting a new standard for regional, technology-driven climate action in Europe.
