Petrofac Secures New FEED Contract For Aramis Project In The Netherlands - Carbon Herald

Petrofac has once again proven its expertise in the energy services sector by securing a new front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Aramis CO2 capture and storage project in the Netherlands.

The new multi-million contract is in addition to the FEED contract that Petrofac had already been awarded earlier this year, which focused on designing various key components of the Aramis system.

John Pearson, the chief operating officer for energy transition projects at Petrofac, expressed his thoughts on the recent contract, stating that it is a testament to their capability in providing essential engineering and project delivery skills for projects across the CCS value chain.

He added, “This project, associated with the overall Aramis development, is another key component to the Netherlands’ ambitions to capture millions of tonnes of CO2 from industrial emitters in the region.”

With the growing global focus on sustainability and environmental conservation, projects like Aramis are essential in paving the way for a greener future.

The ambitious initiative is a partnership between TotalEnergies, Shell, Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN), and Gasunie that seeks to decrease emissions from industries that are difficult to decarbonize by providing CO2 transportation services from the Port of Rotterdam to secure storage locations beneath the North Sea.

The initial Petrofac contract for Aramis FEED involved the design of various segments, including the CO2 trunkline, onshore and offshore sections, and the offshore distribution hub platform.

With the upcoming contract, Petrofac’s work will focus on the decommissioning of topsides and the installation of a new repurposed injection platform that will link to the Aramis CO2 distribution network.

Petrofac’s track record of delivering successful engineering projects positions them as a reliable partner for clients seeking innovative solutions to complex challenges. With their proven experience and technical capabilities, Petrofac is well-equipped to support the development of the Aramis project and contribute to its success.
