NW Natural has announced it will be adding carbon capture technology to natural gas heating appliances in Portland, Oregon.

The technology to be used is CleanO2’s CarbinX unit, which is micro-scale carbon capture that prevents CO2 from entering the atmosphere at the point of combustion.

Marketed as the world’s first small-scale carbon capture device and the only carbon capture solution for buildings, the CarbinX unit is particularly designed for natural gas heating appliances.

And NW Natural is currently in the process of teaming up with several of its commercial customers to equip their existing boilers and gas furnaces with CarbinX carbon capture units.
