Nuada And MLC Join Forces To Decarbonize Lime Production With Carbon Capture - Carbon Herald

Nuada and MLC have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on a groundbreaking project aimed at achieving net-zero lime production at MLC’s flagship facility in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

This initiative will leverage Nuada‘s advanced MOF-based VPSA carbon capture system to significantly reduce CO2 emissions by 95%.

This collaboration underscores MLC‘s commitment to embracing innovative technologies that minimize greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and waste generation within an industry inherently associated with CO2 emissions resulting from the calcination of limestone.

Nuada’s carbon capture solution has been meticulously designed for energy-intensive industrial processes where conventional CO2 capture methods often prove impractical due to high energy demands and complex integration requirements.

This cutting-edge technology utilizes MOFs (Metal-Organic Frameworks), a highly selective advanced solid sorbent, to efficiently capture CO2 while minimizing energy consumption.

Furthermore, the solution incorporates a vacuum swing pressure adsorption (VPSA) process, which effectively separates CO2 from flue gases by utilizing pressure differentials rather than relying heavily on heat.

This innovative approach addresses both the cost and operational challenges associated with traditional carbon capture methods, making it an ideal solution for the lime industry where process emissions pose a significant obstacle to decarbonization.
