Nuada And Carbfix Partner For Comprehensive Carbon Capture And Storage - Carbon Herald

Nuada and Carbfix have entered into a strategic partnership to provide integrated carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions for industries seeking to reduce their emissions.

This collaboration focuses on key sectors such as cement, lime, steel, waste-to-energy, and bioenergy.

By combining Nuada‘s advanced carbon capture technology with Carbfix‘s innovative and permanent underground CO2 mineralization method, this partnership offers industrial emitters a complete decarbonization solution encompassing the entire CCS value chain.

Nuada’s cutting-edge carbon capture process utilizes a combination of advanced solid sorbents, Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), and Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption (VPSA) technology.

This approach enables highly efficient CO2 capture from point source emissions while addressing critical challenges that have historically hindered widespread carbon capture deployment: high energy consumption, complex integration requirements, and significant costs.

Conor Hamill, co-CEO of Nuada, stated: “Nuada is redefining carbon capture, delivering an innovative solution that overcomes key barriers of traditional methods. “Our partnership with Carbfix accelerates our pathway to full-scale implementation, creating an end-to-end CCS solution and expanding opportunities for full value chain projects,” Hamill said.

Carbfix boasts over a decade of expertise in pioneering CO2 storage technology. Their method accelerates natural mineralization processes by injecting captured CO2 into porous basaltic rock formations.

This leads to the permanent transformation of CO2 into stable mineral within two years. This cost-effective and secure approach offers a reliable and long-term solution for underground CO2 storage.

Edda Sif Pind Aradóttir, CEO of Carbfix, emphasized the urgent need for multifaceted solutions to address the climate crisis and expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to provide such solutions.

“By combining our proven mineralization technology, which effectively converts CO2 to stone within two years, with Nuada’s state-of-the-art carbon capture technology, we can offer a compelling solution for point source emitters worldwide,” Aradóttir said.

Through this combined approach, Nuada and Carbfix aim to assist industries in achieving global climate goals by providing an efficient and integrated model for carbon capture and storage.
