Carbon Removal Canada has launched a new online tool called the Carbon Console that displays the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) development in the country in real time.

Designed as a comprehensive dashboard, this new digital asset provides developers, investors, and policymakers with a complete picture of the rapidly developing CDR sector in Canada.

The Carbon Console displays information on companies, projects, capacity, and breakthrough technologies, and currently, the dashboard states that to date, 11 megatonnes of CDR capacity are already on the way across the country, accounting for volumes that will come from planned or announced projects.

Through this tool, users can gain a clear perspective on the different CDR activities happening in each Canadian province, along with access to additional province-based information like current and planned CDR capacity, policy progress, and the local power mix.

With this one-stop info point, Carbon Removal Canada aims to showcase the country’s CDR advancements, supporting its potential for taking the lead in CO2 removal on a global level.

Na’im Merchant, Executive Director of Carbon Removal Canada, commented,

“The Carbon Console represents more than just a dashboard; it’s proof that Canada is quietly becoming a global leader in carbon removal. With over 11 megatonnes of projects planned or announced, we’re not just talking about climate action, we’re building it.”

As highlighted in the launch announcement, the Carbon Console comes at a time when CO2 removal is not only regarded as a powerful climate solution but also as a lucrative economic opportunity.
