At the Groundswell event held in Hertfordshire, UK, environmental asset manager Beyond Zero announced its Transition to Net Zero Insets Initiative.
Through this program, Beyond Zero will help farmers adopt sustainable agriculture practices, enabling them to generate carbon credits and assist businesses looking to address their carbon footprint.
As explained by Beyond Zero, this program will support farmers and landowners to embark on a transition towards net-zero, rewarding their efforts in emissions reduction, carbon removal, and habitat restoration.
The initiative was developed in alignment with the UK Carbon Code of Conduct (UKCCC), and as such, it will allow producers to generate carbon insets, or emissions reductions, that can be accounted for by food and farming supply chain partners.
By promoting the use of sustainable farming practices, this program aims to boost the carbon sink in soils while also restoring biodiversity and ecosystems and contributing to greenhouse gas reductions.
Under the program, these activities will be tracked via a digital portal based on methodologies aligned with the UKCCC.
The farms that decide to join the program will sign a five-year plan for emissions reduction and carbon removal, where Beyond Zero will measure their progress and achievements on an annual basis.
For food supply chain companies, this program will enable partnerships with transitioning farms as a way to effectively reduce Scope 3 emissions.

Farms that join the program can graduate to Beyond Zero’s High Integrity Credits—fully UKCCC once having achieved a strong Net Zero baseline.
Beyond Zero also announced a strategic partnership with Oxbury Bank, providing interested farms with streamlined access to a carbon-centered lending product called Oxbury Transition Facility.
