This week, carbon removal supplier Mombak announced that it has generated its first Isometric-verified enhanced weathering (EW) credits and registered reforestation projects with the Isometric registry.
With these milestone developments, Mombak has successfully positioned itself among the first multi-pathway carbon removal companies in the world.
The generated carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits came from Mombak’s Cajueiro enhanced weathering project in Brazil.
This initiative spreads finely ground basalt on agricultural fields, which enables the permanent storing of CO2 as bicarbonate ions that eventually get carried to the ocean. Beyond its significant carbon removal impact, this project also helps improve the soil health and crop yields for farmers in this region.
Following Isometric’s Enhanced Weathering in Agriculture Protocol, the Cajueiro project has generated its first 46 carbon removal credits.
The initiative was independently validated and verified by 350Solutions, and the data and calculations behind each CDR credit are publicly available on the Isometric Registry.
Building on its successful EW collaboration with Isometric on three of its projects, Mombak has decided to also partner with the registry for its reforestation operations.
As shared in the announcement, Mombak has now registered its first reforestation project with Isometric, becoming the registry’s first supplier with both engineered and nature-based CDR solutions.
Through its reforestation activities, Mombak will focus on restoring degraded pastureland in the Brazilian Amazon with a biodiverse mix of native species.

Dan Harburg, Chief Product Officer of Mombak, shared that the company is working to become the world’s largest CDR company, starting by reforesting the Amazon, noting that its buyers expect certification that matches that ambition.
Designed to neutralize leakage, Mombak’s reforestation projects are expected to generate credits with a 100-year durability, and going forward, the project will be certified under Isometric’s Reforestation Protocol, which recently received the highly coveted ICVCM Core Carbon Principles (CCP) approval.
Harburg added, “Having worked with Isometric on Project Cajueiro, we’ve seen firsthand the rigor and transparency that underpins their approach. Bringing our reforestation projects to Isometric was the natural next step.”
