Brazilian carbon removal developer Mombak has completed the inaugural delivery of its Amazon reforestation credits to the Symbiosis buyer group including Google, McKinsey, Bain, Climeworks, Commons, McLaren Racing, and Union Square Ventures.
The delivery marks the first carbon credits generated under the Symbiosis Coalition, a buyer initiative launched to scale nature restoration, and comes less than a year after members signed initial offtake agreements.
Under the original contracts, buyers expected initial credit deliveries by December 2028. However, Mombak delivered the certified tons more than two years ahead of schedule.
The project restores degraded pastureland across 12 farms in the Brazilian Amazon, where Mombak has planted nearly 15 million native trees across 100 species.
This inaugural issuance represents over 21,000 tonnes of removed CO2 and stands as the first nature-based credits certified by Isometric, featuring Core Carbon Principles (CCP) labeling and dynamic baselines.
Strategic Site Selection Drives Accelerated Tree Growth
Mombak attributed its early credit issuance to optimized land selection and strategic species composition.
The company uses environmental modeling to select sites with high growth potential, planting fast-growing pioneer trees alongside long-lived species to rapidly build durable carbon stocks.
Beyond long-term offtake deliveries, the remaining credits from the issuance were sold on the spot market and fully allocated within weeks.

Mombak expects a second, larger credit issuance in late 2026, targeting an additional 55,000 credits as its Amazon forests continue to mature.
Gabriel Silva, Chief Executive Officer of Mombak, highlighted the importance of execution in building market confidence.
