Milkywire announced 15 new carbon dioxide removal (CDR) purchases and 3 awarded grants as part of the 2025 round of support provided through its Climate Transformation Fund (CTF).

The CDR suppliers selected for CTF funding span across different approaches, including biochar, direct air capture (DAC), bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), mineralization, and enhanced rock weathering (ERW).

The companies to receive the 2025 CFT backing are Arbon, Backwater, BlueShift Carbon, Carbonsate, Flux, InPlanet, Interholco, Kairos Carbon, Karbonetiq, NeoCarbon, Norma, Planboo/Carboneers, remove, Planeteers, Releaf Earth, Silicate/Northwestern University, WasteX, and ZeroEx.

While 15 of these brands have been chosen for CDR purchase agreements, three of them—remove, Silicate, and Backwater—have been named grant recipients by the CTF.

With this purchase and grant round, Milkywire brings the total number of CDR suppliers supported by the CTF to 40.

This selection of CDR suppliers was carefully picked from a pool of 280 applicants who answered Milkywire’s call for proposals.

Having received this impressive volume of proposals, Milkywire asked a subset of companies to submit longer applications, relying on help from its advisory group to review the submissions, curating the final group of approved CDR suppliers.

While the final list of climate innovators includes different CDR technologies and methods, Milkywire points out that the one thing they all share in common is a promising pathway for high-quality CDR, where CTF support can power further advancement.

The CTF was established to provide backing and long-term growth to innovative CDR initiatives whose impact stretches beyond just the decarbonization effect and also delivers additional benefits for communities and natural ecosystems.

On this mission, the CFT has received backing from companies like Klarna, Spotify, Bolt, Avanza, BioGaia, Mentimeter, Northzone, Planet A, Atomico, and Future Energy Ventures, who have also incorporated an internal carbon fee within their business infrastructures to generate a climate action budget.

In fall 2025, Milkywire intends to publish a progress report, reflecting on the CTF achievements unlocked this year. In the meantime, it calls on buyers to proactively support the list of selected suppliers through CDR purchases.
