Milkywire Announces New Selection Of Projects Focused On Environmental Impact - Carbon Herald

Milkywire has recently announced a new selection of climate solution projects that are specifically aimed at making a positive environmental impact.

The organization, which manages the project sourcing and reporting for the Climate Transformation Fund, carefully reviewed over 700 applications to choose the most promising initiatives to receive financial backing.

This decision follows the introduction of thirteen new carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects, showing Milkywire’s commitment to tackling the pressing issue of climate change.

The new selected initiatives are divided into two main categories: nature protection and restoration and emission reductions.

By choosing projects that closely match these objectives, Milkywire is guaranteeing that their actions not only make a significant and enduring difference to the environment but also benefit local communities and provide viable solutions that can be replicated and expanded upon in the future.

In the nature protection and restoration category, the first winner is Ulysses, a project collaborating with the University of Western Australia that aims to restore large-scale seagrass ecosystems in Western Australia through robotic technology.

The second winner is the Jocotoco Conservation Foundation, which is working on reforesting 400 hectares in Ecuador with native trees. The Justdiggit Digital Regreening project is the third winner in the nature category, and they’re creating a mobile app for regreening techniques such as farmer-managed natural regeneration (FMNR).

The top winner in the emissions reductions category is Precision Development (PxD), which is promoting the use of leaf color charts (LCCs) among smallholder rice farmers in India. This initiative helps farmers optimize their nitrogen fertilizer use, leading to reduced production costs and lower nitrous oxide emissions for the global community.

The second winner is LUMS/Neubolt, a project that is introducing electric three-wheelers (E3Ws) in Pakistan with the goal of replacing traditional three-wheelers with E3Ws equipped with interchangeable batteries.

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) has been named the third winner in the emission reductions category, and their efforts will focus on transitioning a group of hospitals in South Africa’s Western Cape Province to use renewable energy sources.
