Leading assessment and certification specialist LRQA has acquired EcoEngineers, a US-based firm specializing in consulting, auditing, and advisory services focused exclusively on the energy transition.
This acquisition marks LRQA‘s fifth in just five months, highlighting the company’s commitment to fostering growth and enhancing its support for global clients navigating the complexities of the energy transition.
EcoEngineers, recently named one of the Top 10 Sustainable Consulting Firms by Sustainability Magazine, brings extensive expertise in low-carbon production, climate policies, carbon markets, and cutting-edge technologies.
These areas are in high demand as regulatory challenges and uncertainties continue to increase.
In this evolving landscape, businesses are under growing pressure from investors, consumers, and other stakeholders to demonstrate transparency and integrity in their climate-related commitments, especially within the agriculture and energy sectors.
To meet these demands, many organizations are turning to low-carbon fuels such as biofuels, renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydrogen to reduce their carbon footprints.

This shift has created a need for specialized guidance on these fuels, their related regulations—such as California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) and the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS)—and the technologies that enable them. The acquisition of EcoEngineers directly addresses these pressing needs.
LRQA CEO Ian Spaulding stated: “This acquisition is a truly exciting expansion of LRQA’s existing capabilities in carbon accounting, greenhouse gas (GHG) verification and sustainability strategy, and we’re thrilled to welcome EcoEngineers to the team and to continue driving real impact for our clients, people and planet.”
“The regulatory landscape remains complex, with shifting state and international policies influencing corporate sustainability strategies. That’s why, together with EcoEngineers, we’re here to help clients navigate that landscape.”

“By integrating with LRQA, we gain the scale and global reach needed to expand our impact, while remaining true to our mission of ensuring credibility in carbon accounting and emissions verification.”
