Linde Engineering, part of multinational chemical company Linde (Nasdaq: LIN), has been selected to supply its HISORP® CC carbon capture technology for the Hail & Ghasha project by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), one of the world’s largest offshore sour gas developments.
The integration of Linde’s cutting-edge adsorption-based carbon capture solution aims to capture and purify carbon dioxide (CO2) for secure underground storage, supporting ADNOC’s target of capturing 1.5 million tons of CO2 annually.
HISORP® CC technology is central to ADNOC’s carbon reduction strategy for the Hail & Ghasha development.
In addition to CO2 sequestration, the project will produce low-carbon hydrogen, replacing traditional fuel gas to further reduce emissions.
It will also rely on clean power sources, including nuclear and renewable energy from the national grid, to minimize its environmental footprint.

Linde will provide both the technology and the core units for this project, collaborating closely with Italy’s NextChem, which is responsible for the process design package of the hydrogen and CO2 recovery systems.
NextChem’s responsibilities cover the raw gas compression station, dehydration and separation unit, and CO2 compression facilities, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies to maximize efficiency.
According to Gas World, Linde signed an agreement with NextChem for the supply of its HISORP® CC technology.
John van der Velden, Linde Engineering’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Technology, expressed enthusiasm about the project and highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting the net-zero goals of ADNOC.
