Limenet, a pioneering Italian startup specializing in innovative carbon removal technology, has officially launched its inaugural industrial plant in Augusta, Italy.
This marks a significant milestone for the company and a major advancement in the fight against climate change.
Utilizing a natural chemical process, Limenet‘s technology effectively removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and stores it safely in seawater.
The company’s innovative approach offers potential benefits for the marine ecosystem.
The Augusta plant, the largest of its kind globally, boasts a storage capacity of 100 kilograms of CO2 per hour.
This represents a substantial increase from the pilot plant established in La Spezia earlier this year. The plant will be integrated with an electric calciner to produce carbon-free lime.
