LanzaTech has closed a $20 million private placement funding round, strengthening its balance sheet as it accelerates the commercial rollout of its carbon recycling technology across fuels and materials markets.
The Nasdaq-listed company said the funding round includes participation from a group of institutional investors, including new strategic backer SiteGround. The latest raise follows a separate $40 million investment secured in May 2025, providing LanzaTech with expanded capital to support project development and near-term growth priorities.
Chief executive Jennifer Holmgren said the new funding positions the company to advance high-impact commercial opportunities with the potential to reshape low-carbon manufacturing and fuel production. According to LanzaTech, the combined financing supports continued scale-up of its waste gas conversion platform and deployment of first-of-a-kind industrial projects.
Momentum Builds Across Fuels and CCUS Projects
Over the past year, LanzaTech has made significant progress across its project pipeline. In 2025, the company secured a €40 million (~$48 million) award from the EU Innovation Fund, pending final agreement, alongside £6.4 million (~$8.8 million) from the UK’s Advanced Fuels Fund to support carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) initiatives and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development.
A major milestone was also achieved through LanzaJet, in which LanzaTech holds a non-controlling majority stake. The commissioning of the world’s first commercial-scale ethanol-to-jet fuel facility marked a key step in scaling SAF production and commercializing alcohol-to-jet pathways.
LanzaTech’s core technology converts industrial waste gases, including emissions from steel production, into ethanol and other valuable chemicals.

The company currently operates commercial-scale facilities in Asia and Europe, exporting its platform to heavy industry partners seeking to reduce emissions while creating new revenue streams from waste carbon.
Looking ahead, LanzaTech is advancing a hub-and-spoke production strategy designed to aggregate ethanol from multiple distributed sources and supply centralized alcohol-to-jet facilities. The model is intended to improve manufacturing flexibility, increase fuel output, and support large-scale deployment of low-carbon fuels.
As governments and corporations continue to prioritize industrial decarbonization and SAF supply growth, LanzaTech’s latest capital raise signals continued investor confidence in carbon recycling as a commercially viable pathway for emissions reduction.
