Anew Climate and Aurora Sustainable Lands have issued more than 85,000 metric tons of premium carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits for one of the market’s leading buyers – JPMorganChase.
The credits, generated via the Little Bear Forestry Project, incorporate dynamic baselining, marking a significant step in the evolution of forest CO2 accounting.
Owned and managed by Aurora Sustainable Lands, the Little Bear Forestry Project spans across a 38,536-acre forest territory along the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia and Virginia.
The project was developed by Anew in line with the American Carbon Registry (ACR) Improved Forest Management (IFM) 2.1 methodology. To set up operations and support the dynamic baselining, the climate solutions company relied on its proprietary Epoch technology platform.
On behalf of Aurora, Anew also marketed the credits from this initiative, supporting JPMorganChase’s CDR credit procurement as part of their broader sustainability strategy.
Carbon credit projects use a “baseline” to indicate the expected greenhouse gas emissions that would occur if the CDR project were not implemented.
Dynamic baselining is an advanced CO2 quantification approach, designed to accurately reflect real-world forest management and market conditions. This approach helps ensure that the credited climate benefits more closely reflect realistic management alternatives rather than static assumptions.
Leveraging its proprietary Epoch platform, Anew Climate applies dynamic baselines across its IFM portfolio using technologies such as ground observations, machine learning, high-resolution remote sensing, and satellite-based CO2 tracking.

By opting in for dynamic baseline credits, JPMorganChase signals a broader buyer tendency to prioritize carbon credits according to their transparency, durability, and environmental integrity.
As Taylor Wright, Head of Operational Sustainability at JPMorganChase, explained, “The dynamic baselining provides meaningful evidence that these credits meet a high threshold for quality, supporting our interests as both a buyer and as a steward of market integrity.”
Aurora Sustainable Lands CEO Jamie Houston highlighted that the Little Bear project shows the positive impact of climate-focused forest management, adding, “Our nature-based approach with a carbon stewardship goal offers real climate benefits, while also safeguarding species diversity, habitat, water quality, and ecosystem integrity.”
